Cnet Asia posts article on how to select a DSLR camera

Cnet Asia has a new article trying to give beginners a few recommendations and tips on how to select the best DSLR camera. They have tips from the Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony lineup, including a short description of a few models from each manufacturer. They omitted Pentax, Kodak and others who may also have something in that price range.

From the review:

The history of SLR (single lens reflex) cameras is about half a century old, but over the last decade this system has evolved to keep up with the needs of photographers. dSLRs have been around since the 1990s, but most of these shooters back then had sky-high price tags of around US$20,000 and catered mainly to professionals. Fortunately, buying a dSLR today won't require you to empty your bank account. Entry-level models can be get for less than US$600, and enthusiasts can purchase more advanced units for around US$2,000. Do note that dSLR camera accessories are proprietary to each brand. This means that a Canon lens will not work on a Nikon camera and vice versa. Thus if you are planning to share your accessories (such as lenses, flashes and grips) with your friends, do ensure that the camera system you choose is compatible with theirs.
